Season 18, Episode 14: Room For One More
"Room for One More"
Episode 14
Air Date: May 7th, 2011
Well it was inevitable, but Antonio is now ready to officially make his place on the Samurai team as the 6th ranger known to their mentor. But honestly, this season really handles something that could have been really given some depth with the poorest writing for the show. Then again, I can't really blame Mentor Ji for not trusting Antonio to join the team...especially when it's revealed that Jayden gave Antonio that Octo-zord when he wasn't looking. Are you kidding me??? Seriously, how did that happen??? Omg, this mentor character is beyond embarrassing. I mean, how can you even take him seriously when he wasn't able to stop a child from doing something like that and giving away an extremely important part of the rangers' arsenal??? Not to mention, what were the repercussions for Jayden doing so??? Isn't it Jayden's fault that Antonio was able to (some how O_o) use the zord's technology to create his own morpher and unlock the zord's abilities??? It's all just so glossed over a simple joke and Antonio pretty much gets shunned by Ji for using his genius to make himself a ranger and has the audacity to even take him morpher away! Ummmmm what??? How dumb is this??? Also, instead of discussing it as a team, Jayden just agrees with Ji to do so while the other rangers barely have anything else to add. Seriously, what kind of friend is Jayden for doing that, especially after that homoerotic excitement he showed Antonio for returning.
Look as much as I will hate Antonio and already find him pretty embarrassing, the fact that a civilian was able to tap into the morphin grid, has been training for years to join a team he wasn't destined to be in and is willing to put his life on the line for the others when they seriously need more rangers....how could you take HIS morpher away and force him back into a life of normalcy??? There is not development or point to this! All the writing has to say is Antonio isn't a trained Samurai and isn't in his blood. Ummmm, last I check, all of you don't exactly look like descendants of Japanese warriors either but at least Antonio is doing this for much more selfless reasons than the core 5 giving into their calling. Then all of sudden the team, sans Jayden, wants to go back and recruit Antonio and it's always as if the conflict never happened as Jayden and Ji just accept him back with Jayden offering his morpher back to Antonio....ehhhhh!!! I hate this show. -_-
Oh, and there's a new Nighlok as the team of 6 rangers now go into the battle for the first time. They morph, Jayden and Antonio bind while fighting, they defeat the monster, monster grows, the rangers call on their zords and now thanks to the Octo-zord, can form the Octo Spear Megazord. Awwwwww, this new zord formations use to be sooooo exciting yet.....meh! Episode ends with the team having a meal with Ji as Antonio serves the fish and all is well with the world again. Honestly, it feels like the writers sleep through this material and just wants to audience just to accept the bare minimum. No wonder the Neo Saban era would go on to be the most insulting period of the franchise yet!
