Season 9, Episode 40: The End of Time, Part 3

"The End of Time, Part 3"
Episode 40
Air Date: November 17th, 2001

Sigh...it was such an amazing run this season has been and yet there is nothing like the way this finale makes me feel at the very end.  I have to say, straight off the bat we get an excellent, if not one of the most epic action sequences, as the 4 Time Force rangers race back to 2001 to help Wes save the city.  I love the action and fight choreography as Jen, Lucas, Trip and Katie arrive to combat the endless army of Cyclobots alongside Wes.  It's a near seamless transition between the Sentai footage of the Timerangers owning Doomtron with the Jet Mode of the Time Force Megazord and fighting the foot soldiers while transitioning to American action sequence of the team reuniting.  It's a real touching moment when all the rangers demorph and remind Wes of making their own destiny. Awwwww!!! :)

Next we see the rangers beginning to make their plan in destroying Frax and the Doomtron as Ransik and Nadira watch.  Once again, Nadira tries to come to Ransik's senses but he is too consumed with hate to think straight! Hey! That rhymed! :) As the Doomtron continues to attack the city, the 5 Time Force Rangers morph together one last time to put Wes' plan into motion.  While the other 4 rangers battle Doomtron in their megazord, Wes uses the Quantum Defender to fire at the Trizyrium Crystal and stabilize it. As the rangers struggle to give Wes time, they stick with it until Wes is able to do so and uses the Q-Rex to fire at Doomtron.  The combined weapons from the Quantum Defender and Q-Rex manage to destroy Doomtron once and for all...to Ransik's anger.  What follows is Nadira crying over a destroyed Frax while Ransik yells at her for having emotion for a useless robot.  It's really heartbreaking to see Ransik through Nadira aside and truly give into his hatred for humans wholeheartedly.  Her tears though are interrupted by the sounds of an abandoned baby that she goes over to comfort and protect as Ransik prepares for his final battle with the rangers.

This last fight have got to be one of, if not, my favorite final battles between a ranger team and the main boss.  No wonder Time Force was apparently one of the most expensive seasons to produce considering the magnitude of massive explosions, stunning special effects for the time and the excellent stunt work during the fight itself.  Ransik literally runs through all the rangers one by one, causing them to demorph by how hard his attacks are! F@#$IN' EPIC!!! O_O When Wes is the last ranger left morphed, he uses his battlizer to take down Ransik.  But Ransik takes Wes literally down with him after he strikes the final blow.  I love the combination of the devastating explosion followed by the split screen of the rangers yelling for Wes.  Luckily Wes' survives but so has Ransik how looks completely hideous without his mask on! O_O  I think Arnold said it best in "Predator" ("You are one ugly muthaf#$%er!)  But Jen finds the strength to stand up to him as Erin Cahill delivers another effortlessly strong performance.  As she realizes the others are too weak to fight, she lures him to a nearby power planet where Nadira happens to be hiding with the baby.  Thinking she's Jen, he mistakenly shoots her down before Jen shoots him down soon after.  After being shot, Ransik, to his shock and horror, realizes he hurt his own daughter and quickly apologizes.  It's in this moment, Ransik finally realizes his hatred for humanity has gone too far as it nearly cost him his own daughter.  Nadira's plight for her father to end the hate and realize humans as well as mutant are much more alike leads to one of the best moments of the franchise as Ransik surrenders to the Time Force Rangers.  It's the first time ever that a villain technically beat our heroes but decided to take the road of redemption.

As the rangers prepare to head back to the future, with Mr. Collins and the Silver Guardians also there to say goodbye, Wes shares a touching moment with each member of the team before saying goodbye himself.  Of course, we've kinda been waiting to finally hear Wes and Jen finally admit their love for each other and it's a truly heartwarming moment....that is missing a KISS!!! -_-  Just everything about that scene was beautifully acted, properly scored, etc. but yet again, no kiss!  Seriously, what was up with this no kissing policy during these years of the show??? -_-  Anyway, after the rangers take off back to the year 3000, Mr. Collins offers Wes a chance to lead the Silver Guardians and make their services free of charge.  Wes agrees, if only Eric will be his partner.  With a brilliant last shot and final line, Time Force concludes one of the finest series in the show's history! What a truly timeless ride! Dammit! :)

Final Morph: A+
