Episode 39
Air Date: November 10th, 2001

Once again, it has been quite the amazing journey this season as this victoriously emotional and intense finale continues to show us how far the characters, both heroes and villains have come.  Seeing the faces of Jen, Katie, Lucas and Trip as Wes forces them to go back to the year 3000 is just so heartbreaking every time!  Especially Jen's utter frustration and panic as she tries to tell Wes how she feels seconds away from them leaving.  Ehhhhh....I can't! :_(  Wes is so determined to protect his friends that he is willing to sacrifice himself to save the day.  We learn later once the 4 arrive back in the future from Alex that Wes didn't make it and the reaction from Jen alone just feels so devastating.  Also, how can Alex be so nonchalant about Wes' death when we know...once again....that's his ancestor and Wes dying could seriously effect his existence.  Sure, Mr. Collins could have another son but Alex is just so cold and distant from all this that is kind of creepy.  No wonder Jen ultimately makes the decision to go back and save Wes.  But before we get into that, Wes heads back into the city to find Eric and the Q-Rex brutally defeated by Doomtron.  While Eric is in distress and shock from the damaged Q-Rex, a group of Cyclobots come to finish him off.  Luckily, Wes comes in to save him and lead them away.

We get another standout moment in the finale when Wes finally confronts Eric about what his problem is!  Eric has pretty much been alone his whole life and fought to be successful all on his own with no one offering to help him while Wes has had EVERYTHING handed to him from both.  What follows is Wes reassuring Eric despite their different paths, they now have the same calling and both made choices in life to defy the odds.  Meanwhile, the rest of the Silver Guardians are doing their best to defend the city and evacuate it as Ransik practically rejoices at all the chaos and fear in the streets of Silver Hills.  Nadira even notices a frighted woman consoling her child.  Back in the year 3000, Lucas, Trip and Katie have mixed feelings about being back home as Alex prepares them for memory adaptation aka erasing their memories of their mission to the past.  That night in Silver Hills, Wes leads an injured Eric back to the Clocktower while a Cyclobot discovers the rangers' home base.  As Eric and Wes realize they are the city's last hope no matter what, Ransik and his forces arrive to destroy them.  As Eric asks if Wes thinks his friends are alright, the Cyclobots attack and we get your typical "home base final battle" as the two put up an awesome fight despite being severely outnumbered.  Wes, using the Electrobooster, gets the idea to set it on self destruct while Eric and he escape as the Clocktower blows up.  It's an awesome stunt sequence and effect as they morph and leap onto their respective flying toys for kids! as Ransik witnesses the destroyed Clock tower.  Nadira tries to reason with her father soon after but Ransik is adamant about defeating the rangers.

Meanwhile, Mr. Collins has been helping people on the streets of Silver Hills as well as looking for Wes all night until the next morning.  When Cyclobots spot him, Wes and Eric immediately come out of no where to save him.  We get another touching moment between father and son before a Cyclobot decides to intervene.  Eric shoots down the Cyclobot but once again gets brutally injured in return.  Unable to fight any longer, Eric deactivates his voice identification on his morpher and gives it to Wes to continue the fight without him.  Back in the year 3000, Alex prepares the other rangers for their memories to be erased while Wes prepares to take on an endless army of Cyclobots on his own as he runs into battle.  It's a really powerful sequence as all 4 rangers reflect on their time there while Wes fights for his life.  Luckily, Jen comes to her senses and tells Alex she's going back to help him while the other 3 back her up.  Of course, it doesn't make sense about them "living their lives while knowing it cost Wes his" since..you know...their memories are about to get erased in all but it's a beautiful moment made very clear as Jen gives Alex back his engagement ring....OUCH!!!  Well, if you weren't such a d!ck Alex, maybe she would have kept it buddy!!! After telling them to take the megazord in jet mode to get back to the past (But with the time portals....how???), the 4 rangers run back as Wes realizes how overwhelmed he is by the massive size of Ransik's army.  It's an intense and pulse pounding cliffhanger that still gives me such chills everytime I watch.  Just the determined look on the 4 rangers faces as they head back to save Wes....that sh!t was LIT!!! :) One more part to go!

Final Morph: A+
