Season 9, Episode 16: Escape
"Escape"
Episode 16
Air Date: April 2nd, 2010
Of course, after such a shocking turn of events with Zod getting his powers last episode, the follow up episode is gonna....be a romantic comedy adventure??? O_O What!? But there's another introduction of a DC villain from Superman's rogues gallery so....that's a plus??? Sigh.....Escape isn't bad, just kind of.....there. It's your typical Smallville episode but trying to develop the Clark and Lois relationship the two have been so focused on other things outside of them dating...since they started dating that they decide to go to a bad breakfast. Clark especially is adamant about sealing the deal when it comes to finally being intimate with Lois aka doing a normal person without worrying about killing them. Tho it NEVER made sense why this was a thing outside of the awkward punchlines from it. lol Clark can completely control his powers when concealing his secret so I don't under why having sex with a human would be so difficult, let alone dangerous! O_o Smdh.....and if that wasn't a big blow to their weekend of love and romance, Chloe and Oliver also turn out to be there as Mr. and Mrs. Green. Yes! These two are....having fun (vomits! -_-). I still find their coupling...well puzzling. They are both on the rebound, one from Lois wanting to be with her true love and Chloe's idiotic actions causing the death of Jimmy but...... I just don't see the chemistry there at all and honestly, Justin Hartley and Allison Mack feel more like a brother/sister thing than a freaky no strings friends with benefits so....EHHHHHH much!??? -_-
But this is Smallville and new relationships colliding isn't the only trouble brewing at the McDougal Inn as the spirit of Siobhan McDougal aka the Silver Banshee has been released and is continuing her revenge of praying on men. But first, I gotta say that shower scene when a possessed Chloe comes on to Clark and then Lois catches them while wearing a sexy Scottish girl outfit.....I think that was worth the whole time seating through this episode! LOL But anyway, Silver Banshee's portrayal here is decent, her look is actually damn near identical to her comic book counterpart but the fact she's a vengeful spirit that needs to embody a human to become the Silver Banshee kind of sucks tho. Not to mention, he being banished back to underworld looked like Chloe killed Lois for a second! There was literally no body after she was defeated but there Lois is with Clark as they return to Talon. Ok....whatever! O_O But like I said, this episode should have been more plot progression on the Zod front and yeah there is a significant amount here but it's regulated to a mere sub-plot were just one or two scenes.
I got to admit tho, watching Tess confront a powered Zod was a great scene. She was bold in shooting him and he almost killed her if not for the kryptonite. Seriously, how much does Tess know exactly about Kryptonians and their weakness??? But it was a well played moment that led to the inevitable sex between them. I guess everyone is having a freaky weekend in this episode!??? :P But the bedroom scene between them does reveal Zod's envy, even jealousy over the city's adoration for the Blur and how he feels he must take on that role to win Earth's dominance. Not to mention, he is now calling Lois as the Blur and will have her looking into what Tess has on him and his people as well as any other projects she might be hiding. It's a nice turn of events and once again sets up some really interesting stories ahead. But Escape is mostly dull, filler and forgettable. :(
