Season 26, Episode 6: Hangar Heist

"Hangar Heist"
Episode 6
Air Date: April 13th, 2019

Well this episode reinvigorates some intensity as well as stakes for Grid Battleforce by following up from last episode with the potential of using a defeated Gigadrone to find out more about how to defeat Evox.  For once, the villains know the dangers of this and waste no time in tracking down the secret hanger of Grid Battleforce introduced last episode as well.  Meanwhile, the moral of today's episode centers on Devon and learning how to be a more reliable aka trusting leader by trusting his fellow teammates.  Which I feel is a natural progression of the character in his role as the Red Ranger aka leader.  Devon does seem like he would be the type to get carried away and think only his ideas are the best option considering how he became a ranger, how his instincts have worked in the past so far and especially how cocky he is when it comes to his personality.  Once again, Rorrie D. Travis does a fantastic job of conveying Devon's frustration and anger but I'm even more impressed that Commander Shaw for once stepped in for some actual mentoring to give Devon some serious advice about being out of line when it comes to listening to his teammates.  A good leader does trust in their teammates and knows when to not just listen to his instincts but their ideas as well. :)

This of course is tested when Roxy and a new Robodrone aka Metalatron infiltrate the hanger where the Gigadrone is being kept and the rangers are suddenly forced into a situation where the hanger is on lockdown; meaning they will be trapped with the Gigadrone as Roxy reinjects it with the Evox virus to make sure it destroys the rangers after trapping them there.  Ravi gets the idea to literally throw Devon out as he will be able to help them from outside while they battle the monster and Gigadrone.  Devon quickly if not reluctantly goes along with Ravi's plan by calling Cruz, his Beast Bot and having the Racer Zord arrive so he can form the Battle Mode to break open the hanger from outside.  Unfortunately, not only does Roxy gets her hands on some Morph X, but Scrozzle manages to get some parts from the hanger as well and sends yet another Gigadrone to stop Devon from freeing the other rangers.  It's a pretty awesome part of the episode with all three rangers racing against time to defeat their enemies and it all comes together in the end as Devon manages to free the others as well as Jax and Smash, the other Beast Bots arrive with their rangers' zords as they are freed from the hangar.

After 5 episodes, we finally also get to see the rangers form their megazord for the first time which has got to be the longest wait to seeing the primary megazord since Lost Galaxy??? O_o  Anyway, it was definitely worth the wait as the Beast X Megazord is by far the best looking megazord since....maybe the Legendary Megazord from Super Megaforce.  The design is for sure the most practical and best looking in terms of connecting to the theme of the season.  I like the obvious transformers vibe to it and it sure looks pretty amazing in action.  Oh and there's a Ben and Betty subplot with a rocket that doesn't completely go off the rails in terms of stupidity....well at least the ending anyway.  Overall, "Hangar Heist" is a persistent episode in terms of plot and character development by Devon getting over his trust issues as well as having a story that feels suspenseful as well as building genuine tension throughout. :)
