Season 16, Episode 26: Don't Blow That Dough
"Don't Blow That Dough"
Episode 26
Air Date: September 23rd, 2008 (Jetix)/September 29th, 2008 (TV)
Sigh....here we go with not only filler but the season's prerequisite clip show and this time it's in the form of the most random plan by the villains that involves a random Rin Shi disguising itself as a repair man as it freezes Fran and traps 4 of the rangers on a game show called "Don't Blow That Dough" where if they lose the world will be at stake. Of course, this is done with some magic remote controller (Uhh huh) and the rangers are trapped without their morphers. So unfortunately, they have no choice to play with a wacky game show host and Camille as his assistant. The rival contestants are former monsters as they will each be asked a question that will garner each competitor more money that they can't blow hence the name! Once again, with these clip shows there's nothing really to talk about as it's just old episodes being revisited to save some of the budget for the rest of the season. Each ranger is asked a question, first is Dominic who fails to answer and gets "cancelled". Yeah, the big threat here is the rangers getting cancelled before our eyes. Yeah, doesn't cause much dread honestly as u'll know they'be back some how. Next is Theo who gets a question right but gets penalty that gets him cancelled too.
With only Casey and Lily left, the two do their best to win but Lily gets cancelled for blowing her money on a trip to Hawaii. I just love how she is legit so excited about the Hawaii trip but loses. I mean there are suppose to be stakes here with the fate of the world in danger but the rangers just treating this like a legit game show that is fun is just off putting. Lastly, we have Casey who does his best by answering all his questions right while back in reality, RJ returns to the loft to unfreeze Fran with a random controller (Ummmm how??? She can just be played again by ANY remote??? O_O) and they both see the rangers are in danger. So he figures out how to send Casey his morpher which he does; allowing him to do so and cancelling the villains....which some how frees all four of them; bringing them back to the loft.
The episode ends sweetly tho as we get some more hinting at Theo's hidden romance for Lily but of course, she's so excited by his surprise of bringing Hawaii to her (Yeah, this Hawaii excitement is sooooo random) that he never gets the chance to finally ask her out. Poor Theo, you can tell she means so much to him. Guess we'll have to wait until season's end for this love story to finally get resolved or at least started??? :P Anyway, "Don't Blow That Dough" is hardcore filler with only a very blink and miss it plot point toward the characters but it's just looking back on a season that honestly didn't need it. But this is just something Power Rangers always does before and after so who am I to judge???
Final Morph: D+
