Season 17, Episode 9: Ranger Yellow, Part 2

"Ranger Yellow, Part 2"
Episode 9
Air Episode: April 25th, 2009

You can already tell the cast, crew and especially writers are getting into a natural groove of the show already, especially when you have an opening extended fight sequence like that with casual conversation, witty banter and juvenile(esqe) humor while the rangers fighting off a squad of foot soldiers and trying to understand why Summer would agree to a marriage like this....especially when the Groom to be's name is Chaz!!! Oh I love that moment of common realization of immaturity as Scott and Dillon say his name.  Before going back to the family drama between Summer and her parents, we flashback to right after she was left to die in the desert as even her wealth can't save her from the oncoming destruction of Venjix's takeover of the world....hence the Kalishplosion behind her before falling to the ground in despair.  Luckily, her butler (and honestly, the most patient and tolerable man in this universe!!! My God! O_O) finds her as he drives...an ice cream truck to locate her.  Of course, Summer is thrilled by can't help but be an overbearing brat by not wanting to be seen in the truck, so Andrews makes sure to drive on the side roads......Jesus, this has got to be the most drastic change in a character I have ever seen! O_O  Rose Mclver must be given a lot of credit for her clear distinctions in her performance and not just relying on the script to tell the story for us only.  I absolutely LOATHE past Summer....yet can't help but still root for her in the present, especially how much humble she became and wants so much to stick to being a ranger despite her parents continuing to plead with her to do so.  Turns out, her parents went broke during the Venjix attack (Transit issues during an apocalypse??? What a shame! O_O), so they need Summer to marry into the Winchester family so they can be reach again. Summer stands her ground but when they say they won't give her the diamond until she marries Chaz, she relents finally.  Jesus, no wonder she was such an unbearable shrill of a rich, rotten kid, her parents are beyond worse! O_O

Meanwhile, back at Venjix's lair of Doom! He upgrades Tenaya 7's hand so that it can become a blaster instead of destroying her like the other generals joke around about.  He apparently needs her human form to sneak into Corinth again to steal the diamond during Summer's wedding for his Camerabot.  Gotta love how Tenaya seems more eager to ruin Summer's wedding than destroying the city but whatever, their girls and stuff apparently! O_O  Back in flashback land, we see the ice cream truck broke down and Andrews continued taking Summer to Corinth...on his shoulders......poor Andrews doesn't even begin to explain how I felt about that scene and him taking all this crap.  Suddenly, Summer realizes she's known her butler all her life but doesn't even know his first name; making her want to walk the rest of the way with him.  I'm more shocked that she finally asked why he puts up with her slavery...because really!!? O_o He says it's because he wants her to show him the real her that he sees within her, beyond her wealth, clothes and make up.....then they get attacked by Grinders and Andrews instincts kick in to save her.  But unfortunately, after wiping the Grinder's butts into the ground, Andrew has been too badly injured to go on as Summer goes to his side and begs him to keep going.  He gives her the usual touching final words about watching over her and she'll show him the real her one day, Summer painfully leaves him there as she manages to get into Corinth and reunite with her parents.

Back in the present, apparently everyone's all ready for the wedding as the garage is all decorated and the guys are in suits as well as the guests have arrived.  Seriously, this was such short notice and that earlier scene between the Lansdowns and Winchesters made it seem like the wedding wasn't ready....but I'm guessing they sped things up cause of the immense necessity of getting the diamond away from Venjix???  Anyway, Tenaya is there, disguise as a caterer while Scott and Dillon argue about Summer going through with this before she sends them out.  After a positively radiant scene between Dr. K and Summer, we see the wedding beginning as Summer and her father walk down the aisle. We also get a flashback of when Summer went after Scott to save him before the shields in the city closed.  Her parents didn't want her to go but she decides to be who she is and help people; giving her father the diamond before she drives off.  I really like how these later episodes are bringing everything full circle from the premiere.  Unfortunately, Tenaya 7 makes her move and attacks during the wedding with a the Camerabot and a squad of Grinders.  Luckily, Summer was onto her and attacks Tenaya when she's not looking.  Turns out it was Dr. K in the dress all along; posing as Summer.  Ha!!! As the rangers fight off the Grinders and Camerabot, Summer recovers the diamond and goes head to head with Tenaya is a hilarious over the top fight in her wedding dress.  Who knew they were so durable during a fight??? O_O  lol Anyway, Tenaya gets the diamond from her and puts it into the Camerabot; who immediate grows and begins attacking the city.  After knocking Tenaya away, Summer calls the guys to morph...even tho they are so stunned by how great she looks....Dillon in particular!!! Hint hint! ;)  They morph hilarious and summon both the High Octane Megazord and ValveMax Megazord to combine forces against it and destroy it once and all.  Tenaya then tries to go after Dr. K but gets seriously outsmarted by her and science.  Yeah, Tenaya, you REALLY DO talk too much!!! O_O

The episode ends with Summer's parents being very proud of her even tho the Winchesters (Where Sam and Dean!? 0_0 :P) are pissed they aren't keeping their promise despite being clearly poor and needing it. But Summer's mom says they'll just get jobs like everyone else. Awwww....oh and that friend of Summer's who left her to die during the apocalypse gets a face full of cake trying to catch the bouquet...meh...not exactly karma but I guess that'll do.  Once again, a well conceived backstory over two episodes mixed with hilarious interactions by the cast and guest characters despite the Summer's parents being infuriatingly despicable people.  It really makes you appreciate the character more, especially seeing what she had to overcome before becoming a ranger, including her beyond evil selfishness and egotistical pride. :)
