Season 13, Episode 6: A-Bridged

"A-Bridged"
Episode 6
Air Episode: March 5th, 2005

Well, we've come to an episode centered around the most eccentric member of the S.P.D. team aka Bridge.  Up to this point, bridge seemed pretty light hearted but seemingly sweet with a bit of an odd behavior to him.  In "A-Bridged", we learn the true extent of Bridge's bizarre and bubbling nature here as when the S.P.D. is on the trail of a fugitive alien robbing banks in New tech City, Bridge seems to be the only one objecting that an alien named, T-Top, that is wrecking the city is the culprit.  What I really enjoyed about the episode is that despite Bridge being so dimwitted and weird, he's a very resolute character who is very strong in his convictions despite the other rangers, especially Jack, shouting his random theories down about who the real criminal could be.  But I just find it funny how last episode, he and Boom were able to build a new R.I.C. upgrade, yet here, Bridge seems a bit slow at times. O_o  Sure, Bridge is clearly smart, being about to find out who the real robber was despite his very silly and over the top investigating but it just seems that most of his story and development this episode was played more for slapstick than truly showing how genuinely unique and awesome he is despite his unusual personality.

Another fun aspect of the episode was watching more of Broodwing's machinations as an ally for hire as he helps those after the rangers when the true robber pays him to get them off her tale.  I like this type of villainy, as it's refreshing to see a villain working by different motives than just conquering, chaos or revenge.  It makes him entertaining in a skimming, sly way as he is more of a mastermind behind the scenes when combating the rangers instead of a direct approach that usually gets most monsters/villains an early death sentence by them.  I also really enjoyed how the story played out and the false red herrings with T-Top, who seems like an obvious criminal on a rampage but actually turns out to be a bounty hunter after the real thief.  His megazord fight with the rangers when Broodwing takes control of him briefly was fun to watch, especially seeing how useful Bridge is when the rangers are under pressure and need to find new tactics quickly to dispatch a monster with their zords. Cool!

But once again, I just with Bridge's story was taken a bit more seriously than him constantly spouting cheesy one liners and not being about to get simple phrases correctly while fighting Hydrax.   Hydrax herself is a cool looking villain disguise wise and her final fight with Bridge was ok but her human form scenes dragged with more outlandish shenanigans by Bridge investigating and Jack not being able to control his hormones around her! :P But I truly love the last scene as we get to see Jack and Bridge have a moment of reconcile as Jack apologizes for not believing in him....while standing upside down on their hands.....yeah! O_o lol All and All, "A-Bridge" is a silly one off that builds on Bridge and unpredictably out there behavior with some decent scenes of character development but could have used less of the in your face gags of him being unknowing weird....like walking stilleto heels while walking a dog and licking a dog as well. O_o  Oh boy! hahaha!
