I guess this episode is also harmless but I just wasn't as invested with it like many of the others.  I usually enjoy episodes that take two characters from the team and put them together for an episode to see the hilarious or thought provoking dynamic that comes from both of them....tho I find the circumstances that bring Flynn and Gemma for an episode kind of forced.  Gemma is writing a diary about all the rangers from Dillon's broodiness to Ziggy's odd comedy to Scott's issues with his father as team leader.  But I don't understand what would make Flynn want to go through Gemma's diary to begin with??? They hell??? O_o  Really random and disrespectful! I mean one could say he was curious but to go through her diary just to find out what she thinks of him just seems stupid.  Also, he gets all upset about her thinking of him as a simple mechanic that he feels the need to desperately show her how awesome he is, especially when it comes to using an untested engine cell during a zord battle to try to give the ValveMax Megazord and Mach Megazord a boost in power but it only reduces it completely as well as puts all the zords out of commission for a while; leaving the city completely defenseless if Venjix were to follow up with another attack. At first, I felt bad when Dr. K teared so hard into Flynn but his rash action and disregard for her protocol during the fight just didn't make sense.  Kinda just a pointless, dumb moment to cause conflict for no necessary reason but to get Gemma to help Flynn succeed. 

I have to admit, it's not all head scratching as Gemma and Flynn's interaction with each other does bring some funny lines like Flynn thinking she's gonna keep finishing his sentences at first. lol Also, that painfully 80s montage of Flynn and Gemma working all night on making a new zord was random as hell but it had a bit of a charm to it despite that.  Honestly, it all just feels like a shoehorned plot just to introduce yet another zord to the rangers' arsenal aka the Road Attack Zord.......a Tire that turns into a giant robot!!! Ahhhhh, this show is a gold mine of absurdity, I love it at times because of the over the top silliness! lol Also, it leads to some random moment of Gemma making her own mistake with the zord but Flynn finding a way to used said mistake to fix the zords; allowing the rangers to form the SkyRev Megazord to destroy a Hammerbot that Venjix sent into the city thanks to his last bot (A freakin' Knight I might add!) leaving the city's shields vulnerable for a follow up attack.  One thing I must admit tho, I constantly loving how Venjix is always constantly several steps ahead of Dr. K and the rangers as he always uses his impending defeats to just form a plan B just in case.  No wonder this virus conquered the world with its constant forward thinking in defeating his enemies. O_O

Also, there's yet another random plot point with  Tenaya getting all jealous of General Shifter in fear of favoritism and being regulated to taking orders instead of being more proactive like her fellows.  It leads to some out of nowhere attack against Flynn and Gemma that just seems there for more action and no real plot movement.  I mean I get it was indicating Tenaya's more human aspects despite being a machine but it just kind of mad her look dumb when she's been far more calculating and lethal as a female baddie, but whatever.  "Not So Simple" is mediocre all around for me with some spots of entertaining bits with the Flynn and Gemma bonding.
