Season 8, Episode 13: Ryan's Destiny
"Ryan's Destiny"
Episode 13
Air Date: April 29th, 2000
The Titanium Ranger arc continues as Ryan returns to the Aqua Base to everyone's shock. I'm guessing the Captain didn't know he was coming??? How did he get clearance to enter the Aqua Base then??? O_o Anyway, Ryan tells his father he's leaving Mariner Bay because he thinks there isn't anything good about him. Of course, his father says there is and begins monologuing about inside being an ocean of goodness or something of that nature. He gives Ryan a small box and tells him to open it the day he realizes he is truly good. As he makes his way out of the Aqua Base, Dana tries to go after him but it's too late. Meanwhile, the demons are planning their next move as Diabolico plans on unleashing his three most powerful monsters onto the city. The only problem is those are his last three monsters; meaning he will have no more to send out to fight the rangers and try to destroy the city. He summons them anyway, Demonite, Falkar and Thunderon. Gotta say these monsters are definitely the most impressive looking of the monsters we've seen thus far this season; especially considering we've never had three monsters attacking the rangers at once like this so kudos on Diabolico for taking a risk with a smart plan for once. As the monsters arrive in Mariner Bay, they begin sending white feathers throughout the city. What these feathers will do is a mystery at first but once they use them on the rangers, turns out they will explode throughout the city by night fall unless they are defeat by then. Kind of a weird way to put some kind of off switch on your plan if you get defeat but whatever. Doesn't help that the three monsters are ridiculously powerful on their own; literally tossing Dana and Kelsey around like their nothing. Jesus!!! O_O
Anyway, Ryan is heading out of the city and sees one of the white feathers and gives it to a young boy playing with his sister. Yeah, Ryan is sooooo bad and conflicted! Clearly he was good all along and only followed Diabolico's orders out of the lies he told him, but anyway, let's stretch this arc out as long as we can I guess! -_- Anyway, at the bus terminal, when he can't decide where he wants to go, some creepy old lady gives him some advice about following his heart and proceeds to wink at him! Get your hands off him you old bag, he's mine!!! -_- I mean.....meanwhile, the rangers are continuing to get their asses handed to them by the monsters when they decide to run away from them. The monsters follow them and corner them but they some how manage to disappear. The rangers reveal they are up high and point the Rescue Bird to blast them but the blast just bounces off the monsters and knocks them down! Sheesh! Meanwhile, Ryan sees on the news about the feathers being taken all over the city and realizes the boy and girl he gave it to are in trouble. He runs away from his bus to find them.....which I don't know how he does!!! Mariner Bay is huge city and I'm sure the mom and those kids got away farther than he can catch up to them like this but whatever! As the sun sets, the monsters cover the rangers with feathers as Ryan finds the kids and saves them from the exploding feather. Incredible bad child acting ensues as Ryan is thanked for his heroics and the rangers are beaten down by the multiple explosion around them that they demorph. Ryan remembering what his father said, heads back to his bag to get the small box and opens it to reveal his Titanium morpher. As the monsters prepare to finish off the rangers, Ryan arrives in badassery to triple kick them down and save them. He morphs and continues to own ALL three monsters without breaking a sweat! Oh his, Lightspeed morph sequence is awesome as well, of course! ;) After the monsters retreat, Dana runs up to hug her brother as the rangers congratulate him. They even give him his own jacket like there's at Lightspeed!
But! All good things don't last long as when Ryan has a dream that night. He is being chased by Diabolico who forces a tattoo of a cobra on him. As the rest of the demons laugh in the background, Vipra being the worst as usual, Diabolico tells Ryan everytime he morphs now, the cobra will move up his back until it reaches his neck and DESTROYS HIM!!! As Ryan wakes up from his nightmare, he checks in the mirror to see if the dream was true and is shocked to see the cobra tattoo there!!! O_O Oh sh!t! Great episode all things considered! Ryan's story really is invigorating this season with some excitement! On to the next episode! :)
Final Morph: B+
