Season 8, Episode 11: From Deep In The Shadows

You know what I love more than megazord introductions??? 6th ranger introductions!!! :)  Let's be real, Lightspeed hasn't exactly been the most exciting season so far but luckily are starting to get some plot movement going!  This episode marks the introduction of Ryan, the Titanium Ranger and it all starts with an experiment gone wrong when Ms Fairweather, Captain Mitchell and the rest of the rangers (Joel coming in late but just in time) watch Carter test out the new Titanium morpher!  I love how Ms. Fairweather asks if Carter is ok after clearly seeing him in excruciating pain during that attempted morph! -_-  Anyway, Ms. Fairweather concludes that the Titanium morpher is too dangerous for any regular human to wield and Captain Mitchell decides to lock it up in his safe.  Turns out, today was also the birthday of Captain Mitchell's son, Ryan, who apparently died in a fatal car accident that Dana laments as she comes in to her father's office at midnight with a birthday cake.  Apparently, Ryan would have been 20! Awww, some nice drama for once this season that I'm sure wouldn't be brought up again! Anyway, later that night, someone sneaks into the Lightspeed Aqua Base and finds their way into Captain Mitchell's office.  I love how the person looks at the picture of Captain Mitchell, Dana and Ryan before going to the safe and stealing the morpher.....well, I'm sure that couldn't be Ryan!!! ;P

Anyway, that day, Vipra leads a squad of Batlings through Mariner Bay and begins attacking the city.  The rangers, of course, head out and confront them as a huge fight ensues.  It looks like they are winning until Vipra's horrendous acting holds them off as she tells them today's the day they meet their match.  Suddenly, a portal opens as a being comes out of it and lands in front of the rangers!!! It's the Titanium Ranger!!! But how!!!??? O_O  As the rangers begin asking questions, Captain Mitchell rushes to his safe to discover that the Titanium morpher is obviously gone baby gone! :(  As the Titanium Ranger approaches, he takes out his primary weapon, a blaster that can turn into an axe....ummm....badass much!!? :)  After blasting them, the Titanium Ranger proceeds to kick all of asses and force them outside where they call on the Rescue Bird.  But it's ineffective as he uses his axe blaster to absorb the Rescue Bird's blast; sending it right back at the rangers; nearly killing them.  Dammmnnnn!!! As Ms. Fairweather watches on and tells the Captain he'll destroy them, Captain Mitchell orders them to retreat as Carter tells the Titanium Ranger it isn't over!  Diabolico then appears to congratulate him as the rangers back at the Aqua Base question who might have taken the morpher.  Of course, Kelsey thinks it's someone at Lightspeed but the Captain makes them focus more on getting it back.  Meanwhile, Diabolico and the rest of the demons plot their next move with the suspicious man who's clearly Ryan hiding in the shadows with his Titanium morpher glowing! ;P

As the rangers search around the city for any trouble, a comet flies down toward the city and lands; creating a crater.  As the people surround it, the Titanium Ranger rises from it; laughing manically as everyone starts to run away.  The rangers arrive and after Joel threatens him; they morph.  Once again, the Titanium Ranger kicks their asses something fierce until Captain Mitchell orders Ms. Fairweather to send the rangers their latest weapons to help them in the fight.  Despite the weapons not being tested, the rangers don't have time as Ms. Fairweather sends them their V-Lancers.  Like a lot of things in this episode, the V-Lancers are frickin' AWESOME!!! They're a new and very inventive form of weapons for a ranger team being both combat staff with blades attached to the top but also able to turn into more powerful versions of their blasters....ummm....badassery ensues as the rangers own the Titanium Ranger with their V-Lancers.  When the Titanium Ranger tries to make it toward his weapon, Ms. Fairweather orders them to go to blaster mode and they combine their weapons to form a massive blast that looks like it destroyed him but he miraculously survived!!/ Oh crap!!! As the rangers prepare to finish him off, the Titanium Ranger's helmet visor opens; revealing to Captain Mitchell that it's......well.....before we get to that, he orders the rangers to stop to their shock and anger as they return to the Aqua Base.  But Captain Mitchell slowly and dramatically reveals that the Titanium Ranger....is. his. SON!!! DUN, DUN, CLOSE UP OF DANA!!! O_O Holy crap!!! So many questions, but a great part 1 to this arc as it leads into the next episode!
