Season 13, Episode 27: S.W.A.T., Part 2

"S.W.A.T., Part 2"
Episode 27
Air Episode: August 22nd, 2005

Beginning from where Part 1 left off, it doesn't take much time before that GIANT monstrous creature owns all 5 rangers in battle.  But don't worry!  It was just Commander Silverback in disguise.......seriously dude, WHAT. THE. F^&*!!! These extreme tactics!!!  Of course, Silverback berates them for such a poor performance (Uhh huh! -_-) and asks them what they were trying to do there.  Jack speaks for the team and says, "They were preparing to battle that monster".  After some more cliche drill sergeant emasculating, he demorphs the rangers, takes their morphers and tell them they've been demoted to D Squad....WOW!!! While Commander D!ckbag continues to put the rangers through a relentlessly traumatizing bootcamp, back on Earth, Stench and Thresher are over-running the city and they continue to grow stronger with the armor they've stolen from S.P.D.  While Kat and Cruger watch from the Command Center, Kat begins blaming herself...to which Cruger tells her "when has she been one to feel sorry for herself?"  Kat soon relents; just as Tinker-Sam floats away to see if he can find help from Piggy.  Of course, Piggy is being a complete sleazeball and wonders how he will appease Grumm, Broodwing and the rangers since he's working for all three sides...oh boy!!! Soon Broodwing arrives and forces Piggy to help him steal back the S.W.A.T. technology those two stole from S.P.D....just as Sam overhears and follows them.

Back on that distant planet, Commander Silverback's efforts seem to be making the rangers bicker more instead of working as a team...so he just threatens to permanently strip them of their powers and send them back as D Squad.  As the rangers argue against him doing so, he decides to think about it while they take a 20 mile run back to where they training started.  Of course, all 5 are eager to be away from each other...sigh! Back on Earth, Broodwing and Piggy are about to steal the S.W.A.T. technology from Thresher and Stench when the Omega Ranger shows up to stop them all.  Unfortunately, Sam is no match for the two of them and retreats after being defeated.  Back on the distant planet, each ranger begins hearing the cries of one another needing help.  As 5 rejoin and wonder what just happened, they realize it was all apart of Silverback's newest test.  As the rangers are soon surrounded by a blue head and Krybots, the use the combined strength of their special powers to defeat all of them....to Silverback's excitement.  Back on Earth, the Shadow Ranger and Omega Ranger team up to stop both Thresher and Stench but even their combined strength can't defeat them and they are soon captured.  Back on the distant planet, as all 5 rangers make it back to where the training began, the rangers brief Silverback on what they have learned aka teamwork, togetherness, blah, blah, blah as he congratulates them for graduating S.W.A.T. training.  So was all that demoting stuff just a test??? O_o  Anyway, coincidentally, Kat calls Silverback to send the rangers back to Earth as both Shadow Ranger and Omega Ranger need their help.  Silverback sends them off in their S.W.A.T. van where their new weapons lie and I got to admit...S.W.A.T. Mode was definitely worth the wait.

I think has been the first full team upgrade since the Lights of Orion during Lost Galaxy???  Oh wait, we had Super Dino Mode last season...how could I forget??? :P  Anyway, like I said, S.W.A.T. Mode is badass and it's clear the rangers have earned their new weapons to their arsenal.  I like the different modes, like night vision, advanced zooming, even the Delta Enforcers.  Anyway, after freeing Cruger and Sam, the rangers finish off Thresher and Stench with Judgement Mode and capturing them in those hologram cards. Meanwhile, Piggy has stolen back the S.W.A.T. blueprints and gives a copy to both Grumm and broodwing...WOW, Piggy is...WOW! o_O  But just as the episode ends, they realize even if they learned to get along, Sky mentions that their fight with Grumm has only begun!!! Dun, Dun, DUN!!! o_O  Anyway, this was a solid two parter overall, just for the S.W.A.T. Mode action and while the bickering plot with the rangers could have used some fleshing out before these episodes, it's nice to see the writers still focusing on character development as a whole.  very nice! :)

Final Morph: B+
