Season 10, Episode 37: Fishing For A Friend
"Fishing For A Friend"
Episode 37
Air Date: November 2nd, 2002
Sigh..isn't a shame that Wild Force seems to be finally be picking itself together...right at the tail end of the season??? The rangers are so determined now without their valiant *cough*worthless*cough* mentor, Master Org has the Princess held captive in a place that the rangers have no idea where to look and Jindrax is all by his lonesome; on the run from Master Org's wrath. It's the most tense and naturally dramatic the show has felt in a long while and I'm glad majority of the focus of this episode was on Jindrax than our heroes themselves. Once again, I hate to admit it, but the villains this season have way more personality and obstacles to over comes than the rangers as a collective who for the first time and you can tell the writers see that as they shift the focus from trying to develop them to what Jindrax has to do to get Toxica back. Honestly, this whole arc with them has been so touching, charming, rewarding and here, just plan saddening as it's up to Jindrax to bring Toxica back when she contacts him from the spirit world. It just really goes to show how strong their bond is if Toxica, even after death, can communicate with him and still have faith in her best friend to save her.
Also, I love the comedic bits in this episode as when Toxica tells Jindrax to use what destroy her to bring her back, Jindrax goes shopping for supplies to do so and has some genuinely comedic bits with some unlikely humans. I especially like the bit with the Org Express card. Yeah, I know extremely cheesy but at least it works here than on "Batman and Robin" which was taking itself seriously than trying to be genuinely funny. But anyway, as Master Org prepares Princess Shayla for some ritual he is setting up, the rangers are busy battling a new powerful Org called "Locomotive Org"......what...was Train Org not fancy enough??? O_O Anyway, so the Org is surprising unstoppable as even the rangers' weapons and individual attacks cant do much damage. As Jindrax looks on in disappointment as the rangers get their asses handed to them, he realizes he must help the rangers if he is ever going to get Toxica back. He joins the Locomotive Org and in a shocking double cross, attacks it and holds him down so the ranger can destroy it. Gotta love how dumb founded the rangers are by this but ultimately decide to do what Jindrax says because they don't have any other options. Well they do, but I guess making them look gullible is better than making them look smart??? Anyway after charging up Toxica's horn, the rangers try to thank him but he just uses Toxica's staff to make the Org grow as he leaves bumbling and fumbling over a dirt hill. Lol I LOVE Jindrax!
Meanwhile, the rangers summon their Wild Zords to form the Predazord and Wild Force Megazord but the Locomotive Org is way too powerful even the combined strength of both; just taking blows standing there. As he blasts them away, the rangers try the Conga Megazord to outmatch it in strength but still the Org is too powerful for even that megazord. As the Locomotive Org crushes and beats the rangers' individual zords after the megazords can't take anymore, it actually looks genuinely hopeless for the team. But "Never Give Up!" right???!! -_- So when the rangers realizing some Wild Zords are able to keep fighting, they form a new combination: The Isis Megazord Predator Mode. Honestly, I notice calling anything a predator just makes me think of pedophiles and sex offenders! 0_0 Anyway, with this new impressive looking and powerful formation of their new megazord, they use it to finally destroy Locomotive Org. Meanwhile, Jindrax uses Toxica horn to literally fish her out of the spirit world (hence the title of the episode!) as their reunion is genuinely heartfelt. The scene after where they talk about looking out for themselves now was also really well acted by Sin Wong and really is a highlight of this season for me. :) Awwwwww.... Anyway, as the rangers declare they will keep fighting and searching for Princess Shayla, Master Org takes the Princess' necklace to begin his ritual to put his master plan into motion! :) Overall, a great episode that kick starts the final run of episodes leading into the finale! Awesome!
Final Morph: B+
