Season 9, Episode 4: Ransik Lives

Wow, I am loving how the show is slowly but strongly unraveling it's story as well as already giving up insight into our badass main villain's motivations.  But before that, as the four Time Officers struggle to figure out how they will survive in this time period, Wes arrives to take them to their new home aka new base of operations this season.  LOL....ummmm, an old Clock tower!!! Can't believe I'm saying this but that's probably what last season has MUCH better than this season.  The Lightspeed Aqua Base was so technological and HUGE that the Clock tower seems so....small and boring compared to it.  I mean I get it with their home base being a Clock tower of the time travel them but meh.  Anyway, there will be far worse bases to come so this one isn't too bad.  It just sucks that the rangers have to walk up ALL those flight of stairs just to get to the top...JEEZ Wes, did you think about that?! -_-  Anyway, after the rangers tiddy up the place, Wes says they need to blend in and gives some early 21st Century clothes.  Yup...get use to these clothes because the rangers will be wearing them ALL season!!!  Yeah, I know the past two seasons had their ranger teams wearing the same clothes ALL the time too but it is seriously getting annoying because it is clearly because of budget reasons!  Anyway, when they all get hungry, Jen takes Wes to get some pizza.  As they leave, some man asks if this is an odd jobs place as Wes remembers it use to be.  Jen gets an idea to restart the business for a fee as they take the job of painting a wall in a TV Station.

Meanwhile, Ransik has gotten the idea that since people are so drawn in by television, he will broadcast his taking over via the TV station and makes a very epic speech about how its time for mutants to rule the world. While Jen gets more paint, Wes get's captured by Nadira and some Cyclobots nearby after trying to fight them off.  After Ransik's broadcast, he has his minions tie up Wes and before he has him destroyed, he tells him his backstory.  Apparently, in the year 3000, scientist have discovered how to create babies with perfect DNA but an accident acquired when all the problematic material of the DNA spilled into a sewer and created the first living mutant aka Ransik.  Shunned and ostracized from humanity, soon Ransik took rule of other mutants and became the biggest criminal with a vengeful hatred toward all humans.  Wes, of course, feels sympathy for Ransik but still is resolute about his feelings Ransik targeting innocent people over it.  Ransik is pissed Wes doesn't see it his way and like I said, orders his latest freed mutant criminal, Fearog, to destroy him for his insolence!  Luckily, the other rangers caught up with Jen and save Wes in the nick of time! Ha, like the the name of their...anyway, Wes morphs and the rangers take their battle with Fearog outside.

During the battle, he reveals his mutant DNA and grows.  Circuit calls for the Time Force Megazord and they use both Mode Blue and Red to defeat Fearog.  "Your time is up!"  I love that last catchphrase as a monster gets defeated!  Anyway, back at Nick of Time Odd Jobs, the rangers are celebrating the first time they are getting paid for a job while Wes takes Jen aside and asks her if what Ransik told him was true.  This is a great moment where Wes tries to see the good in Ransik considering her was forced as an outsider in the future but Jen tells him people tried to help but he turned them away.  Anyway, the episode ends with the rangers officially starting their business as we get a quick flashback of an anger ridden, rejected Ransik crying out in pain! WOW!!! What a fantastic episode!!! O_O We're already getting glimpses of the amazing sense of morality this season between both sides.  Ransik and his backstory was so well thought out and quite riveting.  Sure, he's not as sympathetic as Wes makes him out to be but it's nice the writers planned that idea in Wes as well as the viewers mind.  Man, this season is already blowing me away!!! :)
