Season 9, Episode 11: Uniquely Trip
"Uniquely Trip"
Episode 11
Air Date: April 14th, 2001
Sigh... and everything was going SOOOOO well!!! :( It's not that "Uniquely Trip" is outright garbage, we're not talking first half of Turbo buffoonery here! It's just this episode is so completely out of character for a character we know pretty well already. Trip is the brains but also the heart of the team. Yes, he's naive, innocent, friendly and very trusting but nothing has shown him to be outright insecure amongst the rest of the rangers. So why is it here, when Wes suddenly doesn't find interest in his new invention that suddenly he starts doubting him and feels like he needs to live up to being a ranger. This episode is forced in both its regression of Trip by making him look like a bumbling fool out of no where but somehow making have to rediscover his own identity when he's already shown he knows the kind of person he is!
So yeah, Trip suddenly can't fight as well as the other rangers and needs to work up to be just as good! If that was the case, then how did he become an officer for Time Force??? O_o I'm pretty sure becoming about of their force includes lots of training and knowledge of the law so Trip is obviously smart and capable enough as fighter. Not to mention, the guy is an alien with the ability to see into the future and read people's minds! Dude, known of the other rangers can do that! That makes you VERY essential and useful to the team, dammit!!! -_- Not to mention, they could be using Trip to track down Ransik and the Cryo-Prison but NOPE!!! But yeah, let's just have a silly montage of Trip working out badly and making a fool of himself trying to impress the girl all for the need to make us feel sorry for him. Ehhhh...Power Rangers as its most asinine I tell you!!! -_-
Anyway, Frax unleashes a new mutant for Ransik named Eletropede. Not a bad pun and power display as he can absorb anything from electricity from power planets to the rangers' weapons and powers. It's because of Electropede's difficulty as an adversary that Trip has to rediscover what he's good at as he uses his latest weapon, Electro Booster by giving it to Wes to defeat him. Sigh....the episode could have been rapped up in 5 minutes but nope, let's have Trip go through some random identity crisis! -_- I'm not gonna talk about the little kids and Trip's need to impress them as well. Anyway, the episode concludes with another awesome Shadow Force Megazord battle, though Wes can't seem to tell Mode Blue from Mode Red. Seriously, how do these ADR mistakes go unnoticed??? O_o But yaaayyy, everyone wants to be like Trip now because he saved the day.....blah, blah, blah!!! -_- Ehhh, just a disposable episode all around. I mean between last episode and the next, this is literally filler and is pretty forgettable! :(
