Season 9, Episode 13: The Quantum Quest
"The Quantum Quest"
Episode 13
Air Date: April 28th, 2001
Well, this episode pretty much belongs to Eric and why wouldn't it as we get another badass 6th ranger introduction!!!! :) As archaeologists dig at a site, one of them calls for the rest to enter some kind of cave that has a very detailed looking hieroglyphic of some kind of Tyrannosaurs megazord. They also find a metal box buried within the ground and they dig it out to reveal what Ransik calls the Quantum Controller. During the report of the strange box, Ransik reveals that it is from Time Force and the box is the Quantum Controller that holds the Quantum Ranger powers. He tells Frax to release a mutant named Brickneck.....uhhhh...yeah...O_o... Anyway, Ransik orders him to go after the box as it will also lead them to the Quantasaurus Rex as well. As one of the archaeologists puts the Quantum Controller in a suit case, Brickneck and a group of mutants attack them to get it. Soon the Silver Guardians arrive to stop them, but they prove to be too much for them. Before Brickneck can strike a fatal blow to Eric, Wes and the other rangers arrive to save the day. Gotta LOVE how Eric just screams at Wes that he doesn't need his help. lol
As Brickneck makes his way with the Quantum Controller, Jen and the other rangers go after him but when Wes gets hands on the suit case, he gets hurt badly by Brickneck. While the other rangers take him to safety, Eric happens upon the suit case and after over hearing about Quantum Ranger powers as well as the Quantasaurus Rex megazord. As Eric escapes with the suit case, Brickneck discovers its gone and plans to track it down. Meanwhile, Eric makes his way to a warehouse where he tries to activate the controller but it doesn't work. He just hides it nearby for some reason before going back to Bio-Lab and asks for Mr. Collins to be the new leader of the Silver Guardians. But Mr. Collins makes someone else leader as he says he doesn't know anything about him. Meanwhile, as the rangers tend to an injured Wes, they discuss the Quantum Controller and how they must get it back. Circuit then tells us the backstory about the controller and how both it and the Quantasaurus Rex were lost in time during an early testing of time travel by Time Force. As Brickneck and a squad of Cyclobots track the Quantum Controller to the warehouse, Circuit alerts the rangers to mutant DNA there. As the rangers rush there, Wes soon awakes and goes after them to Circuit's demand for him to stay because of his injuries.
At the warehouse, the other 4 Time Force Rangers confront and fight Brickneck while the Cyclobots go after the Quantum Controller. Eric soon arrives and badass his ways through them until he reaches the controller. But once he gets his hands on it again, he gets countered by two Cyclobots that prepare to destroy him. Luckily, Wes comes out of no where to save him as they fall into a nearby plant. While Wes tries to reason with Eric to hand over the controller, they fight off the onslaught of Cyclobots as Eric believes the powers of the Quantum Ranger are for him alone. During the fight, the Cyclobots accidentally activate the controller as Eric is suddenly able to summon the morpher from the controller. Soon Circuit arrives to tell Wes to stop him before he activates the morpher. Wes once again tries to reason with Eric but he just activates the morpher without hesitation causing a massive explosion! As Eric rises from the rumble, Wes for some reason can't believe it's him....jesus Wes, were you hit in the heads by the falling debris??? O_o The reveal of the Quantum Ranger is just jaw dropping as we see he's a variation of the Time Force Red suit but definitely much cooler! Sorry Wes! :(
Anyway, as Brickneck continues to best the other Time Force Rangers, Eric attacks and reveals himself in badass fashion! Seriously, this first fight is just sick, especially the build up to it! :) Assisted by the morpher's A.I., Eric uses his Quantum Defender to make quick work of the Cyclobots as well as the morpher's blade mode to defeat them. He then defeats Brickneck with ease, eventually using his freeze strike to revert him back to his action figure state. As the rangers capture Brickneck, everyone wonders what Eric will do now with the Quantum Ranger powers as he approaches the other rangers and stares Wes down. Like most 6th ranger introductions, this was crazy good!!! I'd say after Tommy's debut as the Evil Green Ranger in the first season, this is a tie for the best intro alongside Zhane in In Space! Great build up, awesome action and intense plot movement! Yes, yes, yes, I want more!!! :)
Final Morph: A+
