Season 8, Episode 27: The Great Egg Caper

Is it just me or did anyone else find this episode laughable??? O_o I mean, the premise isn't bad to start off with as Olympius plans to plant an egg that will hatch some kind of enormous, indestructible demon onto Mariner Bay to Diabolico's speculation.  When Vipra and Loki offer to plant the egg for him, Olympius finally appoints...Jinxer to do the job and instructs him to put it somewhere safe where it won't be tampered with.  Meanwhile, Kelsey is roller skating around the pier when she notices a thief stealing from a guy who sells fruits there.  Kelsey chases him down as he skates on his skateboard and.....sigh, he ultimately gets a way, pulling off some moves on her like using rope to swing her away and apples to make her slip and fall??? What is this??? A cartoon?! -_-  Anyway, as he gets away and hides from her when she passes by, he notices Jinxer and a group of Batlings placing the egg in a nearby pond.  So...thief guy gets caught and Kelsey has to save him when he screams for help.  She instamorphs (So did her roller skates dissolve or something when she morphs??? I'm confused and need to know!!! lol) and fights off the Batlings as the other rangers arrive and the thief gets away again.  As Jinxer blasts the rangers, the Batlings alert him that the egg has disappeared and he freaks out knowing Olympius will kill him for losing it.  After Jinxer and the Batlings teleport away, the rangers wonder what's up with the egg and who would take it as Kelsey notices an apple on the ground.

Yup, it was thief boy and he's gonna use the egg as a way to force both sides to give him loads of money for it.  Sigh......meanwhile, Jinxer is freaking out at the Skull Cavern when he decides to summon a monster to find the egg.  He summons....one of the most ridiculous looking creatures to ever appear on this show aka Birdbane, apparently, the winged king of demons or something, sorry I was very distracting by the bizarre animation added to Birdbane and Jinxer as he literally lands on him! Sigh...anyway, tasked with finding the egg, Birdbane and the Batlings do so but all they bring to Birdbane are....actual eggs....oh how hilarious!!! -_-  Anyway, as the rangers confront him and the Batlings, they trick him into telling him what's up in the egg and he spills the beans just a bunch of flyers fall all around them.  Thief guy basically tells them to give him thousands of dollars in exchange for the egg at noon at the pier as Birdbane and Batlings immediately head out to do so.  Meanwhile, Kelsey notices the guy getting away again on the roof as the rangers chance after him.  I love how all 5 have him cornered but he STILL gets away because of some practical joke he pulls on Kelsey....so no one thought to grab him as Kelsey was struggling to open the thing that was obviously NOT the egg??? -_-  Jesus, some trained soldiers you are guys!!!  You couldn't even catch a thief but manage to defeat demons on a regular basis! -_-

Anyway, as noon soon approaches, the rangers come up with the most random and laughable disguises I have ever seen.  I won't even go into detail about them as they don't compare to the utter lack of conspicuousness of Birdbane and the Batlings when they show up in those dumb human forms with the money.  Birdbane looks like some Amish Special Agent....WOW!!! O_O  Ehhhhh, as a toy helicopter flies over with the egg in a net, thief boy orders them to put the briefcase full of cash in the yellow barrel but it turns out to be another trick as he rides away with the money in a jet ski while the other rangers go after him.  Birdband pissed off; goes back to his regular form as he orders the Batlings to go after him....ummm....I thought that the demons' weakness was water yet they are going after the thief in the water??! What the hell writers?! O_o Anyway, as Kelsey goes after him, the other 4 rangers morph and fight off Birdbane.  As thief boy makes it to the other side of the pier and gloats about all the money he has, the Batlings finally catch up to him and prepare to destroy him until Kelsey arrives to save him...again!  After defeating the Batlings, the guy STILL won't give up the money and Kelsey of course lays down some brief but serious morality about what he did was wrong.  As she heads back to help the others, he starts shouting about her being "wrong about me!!!"  Uhhh huhh....

As the rangers get their asses kicked by Birdbane, Kelsey arrives in time to turn the tide of the fight.  But he still proves to be more than a match for all 5 rangers when suddenly....thief boy comes back with the egg.  He distracts Birdbane by throwing the egg and yelling at the rangers to fire at him with the Rescue Bird.  They do so and seemingly destroy him until Jinxer arrives to bring him back to life and make him grow.  The rangers call on their Rail Rescues and form the Super Train Megazord but his new armored form proves to be nearly indestructible until the rangers fire all weapons and destroy him.  Turns out, the thief was a stealing for homeless people...ohh god, don't go trying to redeem him now writers and turned over a new leaf by getting a job! Wow! -_-  The only decent thing about this guy is when Jinxer blasted him.  That's for being a major jerk to the Power Rangers, especially Kelsey! If you were doing this for altruistic reasons, why not tell the rangers or find a different way of helping your homeless friends in the first place??? O_o  What a dumb last minute moment of redemption for a character who was an a-hole the whole episode!!! Yeah I hated this one!!! :P
