Season 8, Episode 23: Yesterday Again

Finally!!! An episode again that I can sink my creative critic teeth into!!! "Yesterday Again" borrows a common trope in sci-fi and fantasy with the time travel.  Something we haven't seen since that time loop episode "A Brief Mystery of Time" in Zeo and something the show will fully explore as a theme next season!!! :)  Here, Carter is seemly is propelled back in time for no reason; it's never really explained how it happens and is simply brushed over as soon as he figures it out but it doesn't make the episode any less intense or ridiculously entertaining.  This episode marks the appearance of the Mobile Armor Vehicle, a random powerful weapon for Carter to pilot and fly.  Why Joel wasn't just chosen to use this vehicle instead of Carter since he's...you know....the actual pilot of the team but whatever, those forced weapons had to be shown on the show so those toys could sell right??!! lol  Anyway, after a simulation of Carter using the weapon goes wrong, Joel and Ms. Fairweather who have been training Carter on how to use it, check on him but he's seems ready to finally use the weapon in the sky tomorrow!  What follows is a sequence of moments that Carter will recall as the day repeats: Dana telling a childish joke about chilly dogs and Kelsey bumping into one of the cook in the cafeteria causing a huge mess!

As Carter gets ready to test out the real Armor Vehicle, Joel and Ms. Fairweather once again give him some words of encouragement before he morphs and flies off.  But once in the air, something goes wrong and Ms. Fairweather tells Carter to land somewhere safe to check it out.  As he lands and checks the engine, the other rangers are called into an intense battle against Olympius and one of the demons' latest monster, Mantevel.  As Carter tries to get back and save his friends, he leaves his Lightspeed jacket behind as he forces the engine to start.  But unfortunately, Carter is powerless to get their in time as the rangers are tricked into calling the Rescue Bird and Olympius uses some device to snatch it from them in the air.  As Carter watches on in horror, Olympius slowly destroys the rangers with their own weapon.  The sight of the rangers dying is really depressing; especially Carters reaction to it as he suddenly goes through some energy vortex and ends back in time...during the simulation.  Carter is immensely freaked out but Joel and Ms. Fairweather just think he was just freaked out by the realism of the simulation.  That night, Carter has a nightmare of the rangers dying that forces him to wake up; drenched in sweat....hott!!! :)  I mean.....oh my!!! O_O

That morning, Carter begins reliving the same events as yesterday: Dana and that terrible joke and manages to stop the cook from running into Kelsey.  I love when Carter tries to tell Ms. Fairweather what might be going on it, she just brushes it off because she's such a scientific expert! Ehhhhh, shut up!!! -_-  Why does Joel like her again??? O_o  I mean, Carter was even seen mouthing off everything Mrs. Fairweather was about to say but she didn't notice this strange phenomenon? Anyway, Carter goes off like he did before and lands when Ms. Fairweather tells him too.  Carter....lands the same place he did before and as he checks the engine...notices his Lightspeed jacket still left where he last put it.  As he finally realizes he did go back in time, the battle between the other rangers and Olympius has started.  Gotta love how ruthless Olympius is here, just taking Chad's Battle Booster and knocking him down after saying "You won't be needing this!"  Badass!!! Anyway, after failing to get a hold Ms. Fairweather and the other rangers, he just rushes off to go try and save them.  Luckily, Carter makes it in time to stop Olympius before he destroys the rangers as he shows off in his new armor vehicle.  Gotta love seeing Mantevel running to his death as Carter blows him up.  LMAO!!! Olympius then chases after Carter in the sky but Carter out flies him as Olympius falls to the ground in embarrassment.  After cheering Carter on, the rangers thank him for coming just in time a Jinxer resurrects Mantevel and he grows.  After calling on the Omega Megazord, they realize the finish isn't enough to stop him and call on the other 2 megazords to use their own finishers to destroy him.  The episode ends with Queen Bansheera giving Olympius a hard time for not destroying the rangers when technically he did but whatever, time loop!  I mean how you get off your ass Bansheera and do it yourself, oh yeah, you're useless so far! :P  Anyway, the episode ends with the rangers congratulating Carter on a job well done and Joel even given Carter his own Cowboy hat??  Hey, I'm just glad that the episode didn't end with the other rangers laughing at Joel for failing to date Ms. Fairweather again! lol  Overall, this was a stellar and suspenseful episode!!! Despite any flaws it had, it was still very enjoyable and one of the best outings from this season which has been lukewarm so far! :(
