Glory (2016)

1. "Invitation"
We hear some incoherent echoing before Britney comes in with her classic breathy vocals. I like the melody as Britney sings about inviting a guy for a night of intense passion it seems where she even says she wants to blindfold on her man. This is a very sexy track; having a subtly to it that is accessible to a wider audience than her previous teen/young adult fan base. An overall great start to the album.

2. "Make Me..." (Featuring G-Eazy)
This electronic R&B groove that has been the lead single from the album is a nice departure from Britney's usual style of music. From a woman synonymous with dance-pop, this is a really catchy tune. G-Eazy comes in for a strong verse; coming hot of his own success with "Me, Myself and I", he matches the swag and strength of the track's production. I really enjoy this song and was a nice lead for the album.

3. "Private Show"
This song has a classic 60s doo/whop feel with Britney delivering a pretty exceptional vocal performance (...at least for her....no shade!!) I really and impressed by this song's production with the different instruments incorporated into it like a piano. Britney of course is talking about working the pole for her man and this is an effortlessly great track despite that subject matter. This is a pretty superb tune that Britney and her producers have concocted. Probably one of my favorites from the album so far.

4. "Man On The Moon"
"Man On The Moon" is a pretty good pop song but it doesn't hold my attention unfortunately. I like the analogy that Britney is going with as she tries to look for the man of her dreams. The lyrics aren't bad at all, they are actually good, really good even but the production lacks any real energy and just doesn't capture the emotion the song is going for.
(B+)

5. "Just Luv Me"
Also, another song that is pretty good, I just wish the chorus was...catchier? Yeah, I wish it was catchier! This song is going for that smooth R&B sound but it kind of fails at that. Once again, not a bad song at all, just an okay one. Britney doesn't even sound convincing with her vocal delivery.

6. "Clumsy"
"Clumsy" has a really awesome production, starting with a swing dance vibe before mixing things up with a bit of EDM. I enjoy also the chanting during the chorus. It all works so seamlessly and Britney's vocals are more than pleasing here. Favorite song of the album so far!

7. "Do You Wanna Come Over?"
This festive track has a nice guitar riff that plays along side a pop melody before going into a frantic club beat. Who ever Britney is asking to come over, she makes it very inviting and fun! This is a great track that reminds me of her early pop work from her first couple of albums.
(B+)

8. "Slumber Party"
Britney goes for an electronic reggae/Caribbean feel with this song. It's mostly enjoyable and manages to be a solid tune. The song is talking about having a good old time by having an endless night of fun. It does its job by getting you into an upbeat mood with it's glorious (puns again dammit!) groove. I like it definitely.

9. "Just Like Me"
This song has Britney having to do a double take when she finds out that her former lover is with a woman that looks just like her. I'd say the only problem with this song is that it's waaayyy too short. Overall, it's a relatable song that I'm sure that a lot of girls would understand. But it just comes off as pretty good.

10. "Love Me Down"
"Love Me Down" is one of those rhythmic love songs that will get you on the dance floor with your potential love interest and have you in a mood of possibly seducing them. The chorus is repetitive, equaling a very catchy one at that. This is a song that you'll have a tough time getting out of your head for a while.

11. "Hard To Forget Ya"
Britney sings of a man she can't seem to get out of her mind because of the near perfection that she seems to see in him. It's a love sick pop song that is ok, not the most standout track but it just makes the average mark for me.

12. "What You Need"
This song has some soul and funk as Britney gives a ferocious vocal performance over some well timed trumpet cues, I love this track as Britney has never sounded so sharp and energetic. This is the kind of music that Britney should do more of as she definitely has the skill to pull it off. Stellar track!

13. "Better"
"Better" is...cute!!! I like it as the production has a great melody to it and lyrics are sexy with Britney is in a seductive mood trying to get her man to open up to her and be vulnerable to her as she feels that is "better". Isn't it Britney!?

14. "Change Your Mind (No Seas Cortes)"
I like the sweet guitar riff with the whole tango approach to this song. Am I the only one who gets that vibe from this song? Anyway, this is a great song and once again, this has a strong production and Britney sounds confident. I like the Latin flavor of the song as well and the incorporated bits of EDM. Very clever and almost inventive!

15. "Liar"
"Liar" has an electronic hip hop tone to it and that is something that reminds me of her "In the Zone" album (One of her best!) The chorus is a bit too chaotic for me though. Not as catchy as it should be but it works for the most part. Pretty good nonetheless.

16. "If I'm Dancing"
This has a really great beat to it. It's fun and a nice track for the dancefloor, though there isn't much lyrical content and more repetitive chanting going on. Doesn't make the song any less enjoyable, just one hard to sing along too. Overall, I'd dance to this for sir if this came on in the club.

17. "Coupure Electrique"
Ending things off is this French pop song where Britney has a bit of trouble with the pronunciation but for the most part, carries the song well. I wish I knew what she was saying but the only thing I could translate was the title meaning "Power Outage". It's a good way to end the album and it sounds like a nice track to end the album on.

Well, Britney just recently release her 9th studio album after renewing her contract with RCA records. Rumors had been swirling for the past few years about Britney working on new music but some had lost hope as Britney was off in Las Vegas doing her thing by having a residency and performing strictly all her old hits but fear not..."Glory" is here!!! And what an album it is!!! I really enjoyed this album and think it's easily one of her best! While there is no theme present, the music more than makes up for that as the album shifts between multiple genres of music and sees Britney singing some of her most infectious material since "Circus"!!! Let's be real, "Britney Jean" was a travesty of an album with over produced beats, fake sounding vocals and some of the most uninspired work Britney has put out there. I mean it's like she was on auto pilot as Will. I. Am. completely drowned her voice out and made music that felt so incompetent as he tried to hard to make Britney sound too relevant for the time. "Glory", on the other hand, feels refreshing for it's time, not blending in with the music at the time but feeling like something special all on it's own. It's a shame the album didn't do better on the charts; it debut at #3 on the Billboard Charts and sold 111, 000 copies with only 88,000 being in pure sales. Make Me... went on to be a decent top 20 hit on the Hot 100 but the other singles didn't do as well....or at all. Which is said because the album is filled with some of Britney's hottest material! "Private Show" is a guilty pleasure of mine really, it's not a great song by any means, but I find something about it so irresistibly catchy and tremendously trashy that it's fun. "Slumber Party" (with Tinashe) oozes cool and sex while "What You Want" is a fast paced, jazzy ride with some of Britney's best vocal delivery.  It makes me already look forward to B10; hoping it will continue Britney rise from mediocrity to some of her classic albums like "In The Zone" and "Blackout". :) I mean "Glory" was suppose to be an album similar to the sounds of those albums according to executive producer Karen Kwak.  Either way, this is a really strong album and I highly recommend the deluxe version as the second half is just superb!! I love the kinetic dance energy of "If I'm Dancing", the hypnotizing beat of "Love Me Down" and the festive mix of "Change Your Mind (No Seas Cortes) as well as the foreign smoothness of "Copure Electrique", etc. It really shows Britney's true evolution as an artist as she continues to explore not only other genres of music but other languages to create an album that really sticks out among her catalog of discs.

"Taking cues from her past work but re-visioning it for her 9th entry in her discography, "Glory" is a truly stunning album that feels fresh, adventurous and fun all at the same time. Britney doesn't miss a beat with the sensual productions, steamy vocals and club ready anthem she and her producers have concocted here."
